BEAVER

Willard Beaver II, 21, died Sept. 18, 2000 in Kotzebue, Alaska. Mr. Beaver was born in Homer, Alaska. He is survived by his adoptive mother, Hannah Mendenhall; adoptive father, Roy Mendenhall; sisters, Tia Wakolee, Tamara Beaver, Dawn Mendenhall, Eve Mendenhall, Joy Mendenhall, Mae Grace Mendenhall; and nephews, Jordon Wilson and Colby Beaver.

CLEVELAND

Howard P. Cleveland, Sr., 72, of Fairbanks, Alaska died Sept. 29, 1998 at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cleveland was born Jan. 31, 1925 in Selawik, Alaska. He is survived by his daughter Betty Ketzler; sons Benno Cleveland and Howard Cleveland Jr.

CLEVELAND

Joseph Kaylon Cleveland, Jr., 28, died Feb. 2, 2000 at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Cleveland was born in Selawik, Alaska on Dec. 11, 1971. He is survived by his mother Violet Cleveland; brothers Harry, Fred, Roscoe and Lancer Cleveland, Davie Starbuck; sisters Cheryl Cleveland and Ruth Baker.

DIMMICK

Ernest Gene Dimmick, 55, died May 29, 2002, at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Dimmick was born in Deering, Alaska. He is survived by his sisters, Angeline Moto and Helena Dimmick-Mark, and brothers, Harold Dimmick and Perry Dimmick.

HUBER

Jeff Huber, 51, Anchorage resident Jeffrey "Jeff" Allan Huber, 51, died Dec. 15, 2006, at Red Dog Mine in Northwest Alaska. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. Chaplain Don McCullough will officiate. A full obituary will be published later. Arrangements are with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

KING

Irene Ruth King, 75, died June 24, 2004 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. Ms. King was born April 30, 1929 in Deering, Alaska. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth; sons, Gene and Michael; sisters, Ida Curtis and Louse Moto; bother, Michael Mendenhall; granddaughter, Holly; great-grandchildren, Marin, Logan and William. Much love and gratitude to Sue Sharp (niece) and Michael for the care and nurturing given to our mother Irene after the passing of her beloved Robert.Doris Susan "Kayaqtuq" Lincoln, 80, died Feb. 27, 2010 in Kotzebue. Her family wrote that "She left this earth." A funeral was held March 4 at the Kotzebue Friends Church, and burial followed at the Catholic cemetery, where she was laid to rest next to her husband, Rodney Lincoln, Sr. A kind and respected elder of Kotzebue, Doris was born Dec. 3, 1929 in Golovin to John and Minnie Fagerstrom.

Growing up on the shores of Golovin Bay gave Doris a deep appreciation for her Inupiat culture. Doris left Alaska to complete her education, graduating from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, where she met and married Rodney Lincoln. The couple made Kotzebue their home and raised six children: Rodney "Butch" Jr., Blanche "Bebix," Linda, Richard, Dood and Omie. Doris was proud to live and practice her culture. She constantly made efforts to blend the Inupiat ways of life with the 20th- and 21st-century style of living. Doris enjoyed fishing on Kobuk Lake, bird hunting on the Noatak, picking greens and berries, skin sewing and doll making. She enjoyed gathering and preparing local delicacies that include Native seafoods, waterfowl, berries and small and big game. Doris was devoted to her family and honored to be a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family in return showered her with the same love, respect and affection.

Doris is survived by her sisters, Myrtle Johnson of Nome and Maggie Olson of Golovin; and brother, Jerry Fagerstrom of Minnesota; and her children, Victor Karmun (stepson), Linda and Roger Mauer, Richard Lincoln, Dood and fiance Joe Carr, and Omie and Bob McGuffey. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, Nancy Campos, Sandra Motter, and Douglas "Chip" Fields, Rodney "Butch" Lincoln III, Anthony Edward Lincoln, Allison Lincoln, Marley P. Lincoln, Donald Schaeffer Lincoln, Quentin Allen Upicksoun, Scott E. Upicksoun, Charles Peter Upicksoun, Hilary Joyce Upicksoun, John Fagerstrom Lincoln, Meagan Carol Lincoln, Doris Rose Lincoln, Anna Lucille Lincoln, Duke W. McGuffey, and Niki Blu McGuffey; and greatgrandchildren, Rodney Uan IV and James Davena Lincoln, Ida Lee Lincoln, Tristen Jay Lincoln, Tyler Huntington, and Trent and Sadie Ellison, Duke Axle McGuffey, and Christina, Loren, Danielle, Laura and Devin Fields; and her dear friend, Ida Hadley.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Fagerstrom; husband, Rodney Lincoln Sr.; children, Rodney Jr. "Butch," Blanche "Bebix"; step-daughter, Meda Sheldon; and eight siblings, Ruth, Gladys, Jack, Chuck and Floyd Fagerstrom, Joyce Tucker, Rose Jones and Ernest Burgh; and her dear friends, Ida Richards, Ida Evern, Marie Fields and Marian Davidovics. The family and friends mourn the passing of this cherished and esteemed elder of the Kotzebue community. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

MASON

Beulah Mason, 66, died Aug. 18, 2003, at her cabin near Kotzebue, Alaska. Ms. Mason was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Noorvik, Alaska. She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Comin and Leona Geffe; and sons, Tom Geffe, Wilson Geffe, Conrad Geffe, and Fritz Geffe.

OUTWATER

Walter "Emuk" Outwater Sr., 85, was born in Noorvik on Nov. 24, 1919, to Ruby Outwater and Murphy Johnson. He was raised as a loving son to Ruby and Clay Outwater. Said Walter of his wife, Ruth, "I trusted her in everything. In the early times of our marriage, I knew that she would be okay, knowing that the home and our children would be taken care of." They were married on Sept. 22, 1938 in Candle. Walter became a pastoral student at the Evangelical Covenant Church and was dedicated at the Wales yearly conference in 1960. He received his Pastor's Certificate and a congratulatory recognition from Gov. William Egan.

Walter moved his family to Anchorage in 1969 where he worked for the Anchorage School District at West High School as a maintenance technician. While working there he started and faithfully served as pastor for the Anchorage Friends Church until he retired from his pastorship. While fishing on the Yukon River, he heard a message on KICY that he was elected to be Superintendent of the Alaska Yearly meeting at Kotzebue in 1983. After accepting the position, he served as Superintendent for four years, went to pastor at Deering and Nome, and re-retired in 1992.

WRIGHT

David Wadsworth Wright, 30, died Nov. 16, 2001, at home in Castle Rock, Colo. Mr. Wright was born May 4, 1971, in Kotzebue, Alaska. He is survived by his parents, Judith and Newell Wright; sisters, Jennifer Quaza and Page Wright; and brothers, Ken Wright and Joseph Wright.
