Obituary - Myron Ray Bain

Longtime Juneau resident Myron Ray Bain died Aug. 2, 2001, while on vacation in Idaho and after a short battle with cancer.

Born July 27, 1939, in Spokane, Wash., Bain graduated from Cheney High School and attended Eastern Washington College of Education.

He moved to Juneau in 1965 and worked for several local builders. In 1968, he founded Bain Construction and was well regarded and respected by his peers, his family said.

Bain was a member of the Juneau Home Builders and the Elks. While not affiliated with a particular church, he donated time and materials and advised the Church of the Nazarene on the foundation of their new parsonage. Bain also loved photography and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Faye; daughter Theresa Marie Baird of Spokane, Wash.; sons Richard Ray (nicknamed Frog) and wife Cheryl of Austin, Texas, and Robert Woodrow of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren C.F. Baird IV and Savannah Bain of Anchorage, Robert Bain and Timothy Marie Baird of Spokane, Wash.; one great-granddaughter; stepmother Fern Bain; brothers Woodrow C. Bain and wife Lynn and Robert Bain of Spokane, Wash.

He will be remembered and missed, his family wrote.

Bain was interred at Riverside Cemetery in Spokane, Wash., on Aug. 7, 2001, alongside his uncle, father and grandparents.
