THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Lifelong Douglas resident Cheryl Jean Bell died Dec. 25, 1997, in Highline Restorative Care Center in Tukwila, Wash., after a short battle with cancer.
She was born May 7, 1968, in Juneau and lived her entire life in Douglas. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and attended the University of Alaska Southeast, where her goal was to earn a special education teaching certificate. In addition to activities at her church, where she served as Church Relief Society president, she enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hiking, rock climbing, skiing, fishing, and camping. She also loved music and played a variety of musical instruments.
Survivors include her young son Nicolis "Nikko'' Bell, her parents Dennis and Barbara Bell, brothers Kevin and Gary Bell and niece Savannah Bell, all of Douglas; sister Donna Bell and nephew Greg Beverly, both of Nevada; grandmother Dorothy White of Stayton, Ore.; and various aunts, uncles and cousins in Alaska, Washington and Tennessee.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5100 Glacier Highway, Juneau.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a special fund to be established for Nikko through the Alaska State Employees Federal Credit Union, 240 Main St., Juneau, AK 99801. The family may be contacted at 364-2351.
