Sylvan Barton Breiland died Nov. 1, 2001, in Juneau.

He was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Mayville, N.D., to Seymour and Bernice Breiland. He moved to Juneau with his wife Peggy in 1984, and was employed by the Driftwood Lodge, the Travelodge, the Breakwater and, most recently, the Diocese of Juneau Pastoral Center.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order Moose Lodge No. 700 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1304 of Juneau. He also played several musical instruments and enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father Seymour and his brother Johnny Breiland.

He is survived by his mother Bernice, brother Orlin, wife Peggy and daughter Racheal Breiland.

Memorial services will be held from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Moose Lodge. All friends and family are welcome to attend this celebration of his life.
