Former Juneau resident David G. "Turkey Dave" Bruce died Aug. 19, 2001, at his home in Hulah Lake, Okla.
Bruce was born April 3, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas. Having served in the Army from 1966-71, Dave was a Vietnam veteran who was active in his local VFW chapter. He was stationed at Fort Wainright and worked on the Alaska Pipeline. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Bruce enjoyed sharing his bounty. He retired to his home on Hulah Lake in Oklahoma in 1998. Bruce attended the Calvary Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his father H.W. "Gramps" Bruce and brother Charlie Bruce.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Jonna Bruce, sons Cody Glen and Casey Wayne Bruce, daughters Tamara and Kalah Renee Bruce and grandson David Edmeads, all of Oklahoma; mother Doris "Dot" Williams of Texas; father and mother-in-law John and Lou Mow of Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Beth Mow, nephew Nicholas Mow and niece Sierra Mow, sister-in-law Freda Rogers, nephews Joshua and Adam Rogers, niece Christa Rogers and five great-nieces and -nephews, Raylee, Amanda, Anthony and Connor Rogers and Mattison Smith, all of Juneau.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Aug. 23 at the Calvary Community Church in Bowring, Okla. The family may be reached at HC73 Box 304, Pawhuska, OK 74056.
