Obituary - Ernest Emil Bucich

Ernest Emil Bucich, 63, died Aug. 27, 2001, at his home in Juneau.

Born Nov. 29, 1937, in Chicago, he graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Chicago Vocational High School.

He worked as a roll turner at Republic Steel Works. After becoming an electrician, he worked in Florida, Colorado, Iran and Alaska. Bucich had lived in Juneau since 1981. In 1985, he started his own business, Abaris Electric. After closing his business in 1997, Bucich worked for Chatham Electric. He also served in the Air Force Reserves for eight years.

His family wrote that Alaska was the perfect place for Bucich to hunt, fish, camp and hike. He went to many fishing derbies and loved to camp on Portland Island.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Halloran; brothers Albert and Frank; children Gail Cathryn and husband Daniel Forge of Minnesota, Dale and wife Heather Mae of Juneau, Scott and wife Susan of Juneau, Tammy and husband David Stormer of Illinois, Eric and Jay of Minnesota; and grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Shane, Aidan, Owen, Mitchell and Shaynna.

Pallbearers are Murray Damitio, Hugh Grant, John Weedman, John Williams, Ken Willard, Ken Williamson and Jeff Grant.

Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., today at the Alaskan Memorial Park Mortuary & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church.
