Jimmie Lewis Campbell died Oct. 1, 2001, in Arco, Idaho.

He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Albion, Ind., to Charles and Gertrude Campbell. He attended high school in Avilla, Ind., and then joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Juneau in the early 1950s, and he made his home here until he retired in 1997.

Campbell worked as a Teamster on the trans-Alaska pipeline and Yukon River bridge projects. He also worked as a commercial fisherman, carpet layer, mortician and eventually a heavy equipment operator and foreman for the Juneau street department.

Upon retirement, he moved with his wife, Carole, to Arco, Idaho, where they pursued hobbies such as raising horses, fishing, hunting and motorcycling.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Boyd and Walter, and daughter Christina.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; daughters Colleen Campbell, Catherine Walkotten, Shannon Pusich and Patricia Marko; stepsons Bruce and Bryon Gutschmidt; brother Harold Campbell; sister Mary Stadtfeld; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was held in Arco, Idaho, on Oct. 6, 2001. The family can be contacted at Rt. 1, Box 209, Arco, Idaho, 83213.
