THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Former Juneau resident Virginia "Ginny" E. Clark died Dec. 26, 2001, in Petersburg. She was 66.
Born Dec. 30, 1934 in Klawock to Gilbert Cooke Sr. and Bessie Hallingstad, she grew up in Juneau during the 1940s.
She was an active member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge #1092 and the Catholic Church, and held the position of Past Deputy Grand Regent. Her family described her as a "fun-loving mother and grandmother."
She was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her stepfather, Jake Hallingstad, her brothers, Gilbert Cooke Jr. and Larry Cook, her sisters, Janet Taguchi and Esther Drescher, her adopted brother Larry Hallingstad, and her great-grandson Jeremiah Wheaton.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Clark of Petersburg, six sons, Mark and Steve Clark of Juneau, Ray Clark of New York, John Clark of Springfield, Ore., Dennis Clark of Eugene, Ore. and Chris Clark of California, three daughters, Sandy Johnston and Patricia Wheaton of Juneau and Liz Ware of Petersburg, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will take place on Dec. 30 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. Catherine's in Petersburg. A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine's on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. Graveside services will take place immediately after the service, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Petersburg Moose Lodge #1092 or Catholic Community Services in her name.
