THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Juneau resident Violet Astrid Fish died Dec. 17, 1997, in Juneau.
She was born July 14, 1916, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Swedish immigrants Anna Caroline and Gustaf Erickson. She moved to Seward from Minneapolis to marry John Fish, and they wed on March 17, 1949.
She lived and worked in Seward for more than 30 years, and raised one daughter. She served there on the Resurrection Lutheran Church Council for more than 25 years, the Seward General Hospital Board, and was a member of the Seward Homemaker Club and the Parent-Teacher Association. She worked for the federal Bureau of Public Roads, the state Division of Public Health Nursing, the Alaska Marine Highway System and the First National Bank of Anchorage in Seward.
She moved to Juneau in 1979. In Juneau she volunteered with the Resurrection Lutheran Church, the Mountain View Apartments Tenants Council, the Mountain View Senior Center advisory board, the Alaska State Museum and the Juneau Douglas City Museum, American Association of Retired Persons and the Juneau Commission on Aging.
She enjoyed reading, travel, volunteer work, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Bressette; son-in-law, Ron; and grandchildren, John and Kristin, all of Juneau.
Memorial service will be 5 p.m. Monday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 740 W. 10th St., with a reception following in the church basement.
