Juneau resident Margaret Ann Garst died Dec. 25, 1997, in Juneau. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 11, 1916, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of John and Lillian Curren. She had lived in Juneau 20 years. Her interests included crafts, animals and travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garst.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Doug Swanston of Juneau; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Judy Titus of Orland, Calif.; daughter Nancy Frost of Michigan; eight grandchildren, including Joan McQueen and Andy Swanston of Juneau; and several great-grandchildren, including Haley and Costin McQueen and Jay and Alex Swanston of Juneau.

At the family's request, there will be no public memorial service. She will be buried in San Jose, Calif., with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Care Center.
