THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Former Juneau resident Guy Edward Kasnick died Dec. 23, 1999, in Seattle, Wash., as the result of an accident.
He was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Cherry Grove, Ore. He grew up in Oregon and graduated from high school in Seattle. Shortly afterward his family moved to Juneau. He was employed by Alaska Federal Savings and Loan, and later managed the branch in Sitka.
He met and married Lillian Boen Trierschield in Sitka. While there, he also served as the vice-mayor, as a board member and director of the Chamber of Commerce, and as an adviser for numerous civic projects. He and his family later lived in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
His family wrote that he was a man of many talents. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He was a master carpenter and woodworker and did beautiful stonework around his home.
He is survived by his wife Lillian of Fairbanks, his mother Leona Gran and sisters Kathy Wilson and Karen Dillon (and Paul), and brother Rick (and Rachel) Kasnick, all of Juneau, daughter Loree Perkins (and Gerry) of Washington, sons Eric Kasnick of Washington and Chuck Trierschield (and Shannon) of Sitka, sister Shirley Matheny (and Larry) of Petersburg, five grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Curtis and Ed Birchell, Tion and Rory Kasnick, Kevin Wilson, Zackary Dillon, Damen Vergo and Jeff Brooks.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Nativity in Juneau. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Leona Gran residence at 4450 Old Glacier Highway.
