THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Juneau resident Rebecca Chidlaw Morris died the first week in December 2006 in Juneau. She was 54.
She was born June 14, 1952, in Kalamazoo, Mich., and lived there through her high school years. She then began her life calling as a caregiver, traveling and living across the country, from Maine to Alaska.
Her family said she had a love for laughter, animals, wild things and places, helping others, shopping, The Great Mother, and just playing. She had a fantastic imagination and a gift with children and elderly, they said.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Morris.
She is survived by her companion, Bill Droste, of Juneau; father, Ben C. Morris and his wife, Barbara, of Visalia, Calif.; sister, Joanne T. Morris and her daughter, Kelly, of Traverse City, Mich.; cousin, Alice Vermeulen, of DeTour, Mich.; and many close friends in Juneau and throughout the globe.
A gathering to celebrate her life and love will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Park Shore Condominium Club House. Please bring a dish and a story to share if you are able. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Gastineau Humane Society in her name.
