Longtime Juneau resident Daisy Myrick died June 2, 2001, at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau.

She was born June 17, 1916, in Kake.

She and her husband James moved to Juneau in 1956 from Kake so their children could attend Juneau-Douglas High School. For the past several years, she was the primary caregiver for her disabled husband.

She was a member of the Kake ANS, and was a Sealaska and Goldbelt shareholder. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and playing bingo. She had many friends and was loved and respected by all who knew her, her family wrote.

She is survived by her husband James E. Myrick; her children Clarence Jackson of Kake, Patricia Antioquia of Vancover, Wash., Christina Henning of Juneau and Kathleen Myrick of Spokane, Wash.; her grandchildren Clarence Jackson Jr., Leisa Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, Dale Jackson, Deanne Antioquia, Melanie Greer, Todd Antioquia, George Montero Jr., Michael Montero, James Montero, Trisha Montero, Chad Peery and Ryan Peery; her great-grandchildren Corey Jackson, James Jackson, George Montero III and Kyley Peery; her brothers and sisters Raymond Jackson, Lena Skeek, Lorena Davis, Martha Williams, Tilly Jackson and Frances Williams; and her numerous other relatives.

Memorial services were held at the Northern Light United Church on June 4 at 1 p.m. and at Kake Community Center on June 6 at 1 p.m.

Pallbearers were Clarence Jackson Jr., Jeffrey Jackson, Clarence Antioquia, Todd Antioquia, James Fenton and George Montero Jr. The honorary pallbearers were Charles Abbot, Gene Wald, Cyric George and Greg Gallant.
