THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Steve Perry, also known as Michael McKay, died July 26, 2001. His birth name was David Randall Blair.
He was born July 30, 1965, in Ketchikan. Perry was raised in Saxman and spent most of his life in Southeast Alaska.
A 1984 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, he was a member of the Eagles 162.
He was interested in learning about religion and attended several churches in his search for knowledge, his family said. Most recently, he attended the 7th Day Adventist, Salvation Army and the Pentecostal Church of God.
Perry liked to travel and loved playing darts, his family said. He was on several dart teams in Ketchikan and had his own team for the Westmark Cape Fox Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reynold Denny Sr. and Mary Denny, uncle Reynold Denny Jr. and aunt Anna Williams.
He is survived by his mother, Ernestine Blair; siblings Ernestine Ellis, Marilyn Blair, Raymond Blair Jr., Denny Blair Sr., Clifford Blair and Luann Blair; cousins Linda Williams, Pamela Sheakley and Rey Denny; nephew Paris and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Reynold Blair, Joel Buchanan, Larry DeWitt, Lloyd Jackson, Christopher Phillips and Harvey Shields.
Honorary Pallbearers were Robert Major, John Major, David Jenson, Howard Smith, Larry Johnson Jr. and Albert Jackson.
A memorial service was held Aug. 1, 2001, and a funeral service was held Aug. 2, 2001, both in Saxman. Perry is buried at the Bayview Cemetery.
