Ople Mable Phelon, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, in Juneau.

She was born Dec. 11, 1909, in Reading, Kan., the daughter of Grover Henry and Nellie Mae Rehrig Price. She was a graduate of the Lyndon Kansas High School.

She married Wilbur "Bill'' Phelon on Dec. 26, 1928, in Emporia, Kan. They moved to McPherson, Kan., in 1931, where they remained to raise their family.

She was a homemaker, member of the First Presbyterian Church, and life member of Ruth Chapter 52, order of the Eastern Star, Osage City, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1985.

Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Granny Opie,'' she moved to Juneau in 1986 to be near her family.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Lorene Peel and son-in-law Robert L. Peel, grandson Robert Laurus Peel and his wife Kristi Peel, great granddaughters Kori and Danielle Kuaana, grandson Douglas Phelon Peel and his wife Nancy Peel, and great grandson Peter Peel, all of Juneau. Also survived by sister Dorine Callahan and niece Vicki Lin Porter, both of Redondo Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by brothers Dr. C. J. Price and Lynn Rehrig Price.

Committal Service will be at a later date in McPherson, Kan.
