David D. Saldivar Jr. died Oct. 14, 2001, in Juneau.

He was born Jan. 9, 1961, in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, the Philippines, to David Sr. and Anastasia Saldivar. He lived in Juneau and worked for the state of Alaska for 17 years. At the time of his death he was an engineer manager for the Alaska Department of Transportation.

He was a member of the Filipino Community in Juneau and served on the board of directors from 1995-1999. He enjoyed sports, including basketball, wrestling, baseball, football, hunting and fishing, gardening and playing cards with his brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Mila Saldivar; daughters Sandra Saldivar, Seattle, and Gabbie Saldivar, Juneau; sons David "Tres" Saldivar III and Nico Saldivar, both of Juneau; parents David Sr. and Anastasia Saldivar, Seattle; brothers Leo and Spear Saldivar, both of Seattle; sisters Anna Marie Mende, Newport Beach, Calif., and Imelda Saldivar, Seattle; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws in Alaska and the Lower 48.

Viewing and Rosary will be held at the Alaskan Mortuary Memorial Park, 3839 Riverside Drive, 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 18-19, and 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 20-21. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9055 Atlin Dr. A reception will follow at the Filipino Community Hall, 251 S. Franklin Street.
