THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Kenneth G. Shudshift
Kenneth G. Shudshift, 75, died Aug. 21 of a heart attack at Swedish Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Douglas. He attended Douglas High School where he met his future wife Claire Dore. He then started working for Pan American Airlines. At age 19, Shudshift enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Atuit and later transferred to Oahu, Hawaii, where the climate was more favorable.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy he moved Seattle and attended University of Washington. He moved back home to Juneau and married Dore. While back in Alaska, he worked for Northland and Alaska Steamship Co. The couple moved to Seattle in 1955 and started a family. While in Seattle, Shudshift worked in office management for transportation companies.
Shudshift has been attending and serving at Bethlehem Lutheran Church since he moved to the Seattle area.
Family members include daughters Susan Ebert of Washington and Mari Yelko of Las Vegas, and grandchildren David Neal and Denise Ebert of Washington.
The family suggests those desiring to share memorials should direct them to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
