THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Edwin John Stier died Oct. 10, 2001, in Juneau.
He was born Nov. 13, 1941, in Oregon City, Ore. In 1966, he received his bachelor's degree from Oregon State University, and in 1968 he moved to Juneau, where he worked in personnel and labor relations for the state.
Family and friends say he loved Alaska and enjoyed nature photography, carving, carpentry and walking his springer spaniels.
He is survived by wife Marcia Stier, Juneau; son Eric Stier, Portland, Ore.; mother Eileene Proffitt, Milwaukie, Ore.; and brother Tom Stier, Bremerton, Wash.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Donations may be made in Stier's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
