THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
Former Southeast resident Albert H. Wiitala, 83, died July 19, 2001, in Washington.
He was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Naselle, Wash. Wiitala served in the Army during World War II with tours of duty in Europe. Upon returning, he eventually settled into the logging industry. He went to Southeast Alaska in the early part of the 1970's and started A.W. Logging Inc.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie K. Wiitala and oldest son Ronald L. Wiitala.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Wiitala; son Brian, daughter-in-law Sherry and grandson Aaron of Arizona; daughters Laurel Wiitala and Wendy Wiitala of Washington; grandson Jeremy Wiitala of Oregon; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Services were held in Neah Bay, Wash. on July 21, 2001.
