I am researching my grandfather Fredrick MONSON, who
was born in Nome Alaska about 1907. I have found his adoptive father in
the 1910 census, but the only child was a Sinyuk MUNSON. We know now
that he, the birth father, was Carvel TORLAKSON, back then he was
THORLAKSSON or EINARSSON, he worked for the Treasury Department as a
surf man or lifeguard. Where could I find information about adoptions
and Native name changes? Or documents pertaining to Karvel THORLAKSSON.

Reply: You might have
good luck at Bureau of Indian Affairs. You might contact the Native
Corporation for the Nome area. Also, we suggest you go on Facebook to
the Alaska History and the Alaska Writers groups. There are lots of
folks in these groups familiar with interior Alaskan people and in
researching these folks.
Searching for Vaden Lynn PEARCE death info and did
not locate. Have obtained his obituary from another Source so sharing
info. Have found his info as Lynn V. PEARCE, but believe Vaden Lynn
PEARCE to be correct. DOB: June-26-1951 in Texas. DOD: Oct-23-1989 in
Alaska.
